On June 27 Argentina's central bank temporarily restricted foreign exchange access for large companies and luxury goods importers, and paused foreign-currency import payments. The blue dollar rate rose to 232 pesos and the country risk index hit a record.
Currency controls can disrupt import payments and trade flows with Brazil, and reduced access to dollars may also slow farm input purchases, adding pressure to Argentine export logistics and prices.
