Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association is calling for federal and provincial investigation into beef pricing, arguing packers and retailers limit supply to lift prices while farm-gate returns lag. The association wants transparency on where profits are made in the supply chain.
The push for scrutiny reflects a wide gap between retail and farm-gate beef prices, but it does not itself change cattle supply or feed demand in the near term.
