The US Federal Reserve raised rates by 0.75 percentage points to 2.25-2.5 percent in late July, and the US dollar has appreciated by about 11 percent since the start of the year. The State Bank of Vietnam put the dong's depreciation at about 2.3 percent against the dollar, with the USD/VND rate at 23,153 on August 12.
A stronger dollar raises import costs for Vietnamese importers of feed inputs while helping exporters, so the net effect on feed buyers depends on their trade exposure.
