EU imports of sunflower seed jumped to about 259,895 tons in July, about 18 times the July 2021 level, with Ukraine supplying 93%. EU rapeseed imports were about 491,443 tons, mainly from Australia, and sunflower oil imports fell slightly to 126,033 tons.
Ukrainian volumes exceeded earlier projections.
Strong EU sunflower seed imports from Ukraine show Black Sea oilseed flows recovering and support European meal supply. Lower sunflower oil imports point to firmer European vegetable oil demand.
