The USDA reported rough rice stocks on August 1, 2022 at 32.773 million hundredweight, down 13% year on year, after a 16% production drop in 2021. Most stocks are held off farm, while milled rice stocks rose 15%.
Tighter old-crop rice supplies support prices for the 2022/23 marketing year, although the stock figures are a modest signal for feed-grade rice demand.
