Bank Indonesia says it is always in the market with its triple intervention in spot, DNDF and bond markets to prevent excessive rupiah falls. The rupiah dropped as much as 0.6% to 15,125 per dollar and is down about 6% year to date.
Central bank FX intervention can slow rupiah depreciation, but it does not offset the dollar's broad strength. For feed buyers, a weaker rupiah raises the local-currency cost of imported feed inputs.
