India’s record high prices spur wheat sowing, area up nearly 11% y/y

Indian farmers planted wheat on 15.3 million hectares as of late November, up nearly 11% from a year earlier, as record wheat prices encouraged planting. Rapeseed area also rose to 7.1 million hectares, and the government is weighing whether to lift the May wheat export ban.
