China's yuan fell to a five-week low in early Monday trading as weak South Korean export data pointed to deteriorating Asian export orders. The spot rate traded near 6.83 per dollar while the PBOC set its midpoint weaker at 6.8151.
Softer Asian export demand and a weaker yuan could reduce Chinese import appetite and pressure the value of commodities priced in dollars.
