US distillate inventories rose modestly since early October as manufacturing and freight slowdowns combined with high refinery runs, but remain very low by historical standards. Inventories stood at 118 million barrels in late January.
Tight distillate stocks leave diesel vulnerable to price spikes if freight volumes rise or refineries cut runs, a supportive factor for diesel-linked logistics costs.
