Asian currencies fell on September 26, 2023, with the Thai baht and Indonesian rupiah leading losses as the dollar strengthened and US bond yields reached 16-year highs. The baht hit its lowest since November 10, 2022, and the Thai 10-year yield reached 3.26%.
Stronger dollar and higher US yields raise the local cost of dollar-priced feed imports in Southeast Asia and may restrain buying. The pressure reflects broad regional fund outflows rather than a grain-specific event.
