The Federal Reserve kept its federal funds target at 5.25-5.50% at its September meeting, skipping a hike for the second time since tightening began in March 2022. Inflation rose to 3.7% in August while the labor market remained robust with 187,000 jobs added.
A hold with a possible further hike keeps the dollar supported and financing costs high, which tends to weigh on commodity prices priced in dollars. The effect on feed commodities is indirect and moderate.
