The November OPEC+ meeting produced voluntary cuts of about 2.2 million bpd for the first quarter of 2024. Saudi Arabia continued its 1 million bpd cut, with Iraq, the UAE, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Oman and Russia also contributing.
Brent rose slightly to about $80.6 per barrel the next morning.
The pledged reductions support crude prices and reflect producer efforts to counter oversupply concerns, which keeps energy costs elevated for feed manufacturers.
