The Indian rupee was expected to open slightly weaker against the dollar as robust US labour data reduced the likelihood of a Fed rate cut in March. Market pricing for a March cut fell to about 44% after US job openings rose unexpectedly and consumer confidence hit a two-year high.
A firmer dollar on delayed US easing pressures emerging-market currencies such as the rupee, which raises the cost of dollar-priced imports for feed ingredients in India. The effect on grain and oilseed prices is limited.
