Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said the government is not considering any proposal to lift export curbs on wheat, rice and sugar. He said there is no plan to import wheat or sugar.
India has been exporting rice to friendly nations such as Indonesia, Senegal and Gambia for food security.
The continued curbs on major Indian grains keep supply tight on world markets and support prices. Limited government-to-government rice shipments do not offset the wider supply shortfall.
