The State Bank of Vietnam lowered its reference rate by VND30 to VND23,960 per dollar on February 1, 2024. The Fed kept rates unchanged and signalled no near-term cut, and the dollar index rose 0.12% to 103.51.
A firmer dollar after the Fed decision pushes up the local cost of USD-priced imports for Vietnam. The central rate move is small and does not change the trend.
