The State Bank of Vietnam signaled readiness to defend the dong after it slipped to a record low amid dollar strength. Governor Nguyen Thi Hong told parliament the central bank will keep monitoring the exchange rate amid global currency fluctuations.
A weaker dong raises the cost of imported feed inputs for Vietnamese buyers and can pressure local feed mill margins, while a central bank defense could limit further depreciation.
