Sustainability in Business summarizes the EUDR, which has been in force since June 2023 and applies from December 30, 2024, with due diligence requirements for wood, beef, palm oil, soy, coffee, cocoa and rubber. Secondary legislation on the information system and country risk benchmarking is still being developed.
Pending implementing rules on country risk categories leave buyers unsure which origins will face scrutiny, adding uncertainty to soy and palm oil trade flows into the EU.
