Brazil's central bank chief Roberto Campos Neto said a lack of confidence in how the government handles public accounts is affecting market prices. His comments came as the Brazilian real weakened against the dollar and interest rate futures rose sharply on fiscal worries and remarks by President Lula.
A weaker real makes Brazilian soybeans, corn and meal cheaper for export buyers, which can pressure global oilseed and feed prices. Higher domestic rates also raise farmer financing costs.
