As major railways come to a stop, Hamilton port, chamber of commerce warn of 'profound' local impact

Hamilton's port authority warns that the lockout of about 9,300 CN and CPKC workers will disrupt shipments of food, gasoline and asphalt moved by train out of the city. Freight traffic could resume within days, according to Labour Minister Steve MacKinnon, after the government sent the disputes to binding arbitration.

Passenger rail service out of Hamilton was already cancelled.
