USDA livestock analyst Shayle Shagam said the US laying flock was 305 million birds as of July, down from about 313 million a year earlier. He expects egg production to rise in 2025 and prices to decline, assuming no further bird flu outbreaks.
The smaller laying flock trims near-term feed demand from layers, while expected 2025 flock growth would support recovering feed consumption.
