India exported $122.7 million of non-basmati white rice in April-May of this fiscal year, according to a parliamentary reply. The government says it is monitoring production and export conditions to decide on policy, while the export ban remains in place.
Small export volumes under the ban show limited Indian rice supply reaching world markets, which keeps global rice prices supported.
