Researchers expect the Fed's rate cuts to ease USD/VND pressure and attract more foreign direct and portfolio investment into Vietnam. The dong's depreciation against the dollar has narrowed to 1.6% from 4.9% in late May, and the note forecasts 1.3-1.7% depreciation this year.
A more stable dong and cheaper imports help Vietnamese feed and livestock buyers plan purchases. Stronger investment inflows support local demand, but the effect on global commodity prices is small.
