Kasikorn Research Center expects the baht to weaken to 34.50 per dollar by end-2024 and 35.50 in 2025. The baht hit a three-month low of 34.61 after the Fed's 25bp cut, which came with a hawkish statement and an upgraded 2025 US growth forecast.
A weaker baht and a firmer dollar raise the local-currency cost of imported feed ingredients for Thai buyers, while dollar-priced commodities such as soymeal and corn are not directly moved by this forecast.
