The ECB cut its key interest rates by 25 basis points and left the door open to further easing as inflation approaches target and the economy stays weak. The euro fell 0.2% to $1.0473 against the dollar as US inflation data strengthened the greenback.
A firmer dollar lowers the local-currency cost of US commodities for importers only partly offset by the weaker euro, while the rate-cut outlook widens the rate gap that supports the dollar.
