USDA data for the week to December 12 showed US soybean oil sales for 2024/25 fell 91% to 6,000 tonnes, and exports dropped 18% to 13,000 tonnes. Palm oil has traded at a premium to soyoil since August, while Argentine soyoil basis premiums have shifted foreign demand toward US exports.
Weak weekly export sales signal soft near-term demand for US soyoil, though the palm premium and Argentine competition are shifting some buying toward US supply.
