The US dollar reached its highest level in two years. The State Bank of Vietnam's central rate was 24,343 VND per dollar on January 14, up 2 VND from the prior session.
Commercial bank selling rates were around 25,560 VND.
A firmer dollar lifts the cost of dollar-priced imports such as feed ingredients for Vietnam and pressures commodity prices globally. The move is incremental rather than a shock.
