Agriculture Dive reports that a University of Illinois study finds the $10 billion in economic aid will not fully reverse losses for grain producers. Using central Illinois high-productivity land, it estimates corn returns improve from minus $161 to minus $118 per acre.
Many farmers will still have negative returns after receiving the payments.
Persistent negative margins may reduce planted acreage in later seasons and could tighten corn and soybean supply over time. Near-term prices are not directly affected.
