EUR/USD fell sharply to near 1.0420 as President Trump reiterated threats of 25% tariffs on European cars and other imports and said reciprocal tariffs would take effect April 2. The US Dollar Index rose above 107.00 as the dollar gained safe-haven appeal.
New tariff threats on euro-area trade and a stronger dollar raise the risk of reduced transatlantic trade flows and make US dollar-priced commodities more expensive for European buyers.
