Oil prices rose about 1% in choppy trade on Monday after President Trump threatened 25%-50% secondary tariffs on buyers of Russian oil. He also warned Iran of possible military action and secondary tariffs if it did not reach a nuclear deal with Washington.
Secondary tariffs on major Russian crude buyers such as China and India could disrupt global crude flows and lift prices. Analysts note Trump has signaled he is not planning to impose them for now, which limits the immediate impact.
