USDA announced it is issuing up to $10 billion directly to agricultural producers through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program for the 2024 crop year. Payments are based on planted and prevented planted acres, and FSA will send pre-filled applications after signup opens March 19, 2025.
Direct aid cushions farm income and input-cost pressure, which can support acreage and feed demand but does little to move futures directly; the payments are not a major price driver on their own.
