The State Bank of Vietnam set the central dong rate at 24,960 per dollar on April 29, a small decline. The dollar index traded near 98.31, down 0.28 points, and the dollar posted its biggest monthly fall in about two and a half years against the yen and euro.
A weaker dollar against major currencies tends to support dollar-denominated grain and oilseed prices, while the dong's movement shifts local import costs for feed buyers.
