A USDA attaché in Canberra projects Australian wheat production at 31 million tonnes for 2025/26, down 3.11 million tonnes, on lower harvested area and yields. Exports are forecast at 23 million tonnes, down 3 million, while feed use and ending stocks were each raised by 100,000 tonnes.
Barley output is seen at 12.5 million tonnes and sorghum at 2.5 million tonnes.
Smaller exportable supply from Australia supports world wheat and barley prices, and the higher feed use signals firmer domestic demand. Sorghum output rising would partly offset that for feed buyers.
