The yuan fell from a six-month high against the dollar on Wednesday as corporate and offshore buyers bought dollars. Earlier, it had breached 7.2 per dollar after the US-China Geneva deal to unwind most tariffs.
State banks reportedly sold yuan and bought dollars to slow the rally.
Yuan weakness makes US farm exports more expensive for Chinese buyers, which can weigh on soy and corn demand. The move is small, and it mainly reflects short-term dollar flows.
