The national average diesel price dropped 4.9 cents to $3.487 a gallon in the EIA data released May 28. Diesel fell in all five PADD regions, with the Rocky Mountain and Gulf Coast showing the largest declines.
Falling diesel prices lower the cost of moving feed ingredients by truck. The regional declines indicate broad softness in the fuel component of logistics costs.
