The Australian dollar fell to a six-week low of US64.24 cents as the greenback rallied after Fed Chair Powell showed no hurry to cut rates, citing tariff-related inflation concerns. Strong earnings from Microsoft and Meta also supported the US dollar.
A firmer dollar makes USD-priced grains and meals costlier for importers outside the US, which can weigh on US export demand and prices.
