The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) requires operators and traders to ensure that relevant products are deforestation-free and legally produced. Large and medium companies must comply from 30 December 2025, and micro and small enterprises from 30 June 2026.
Non-compliance can lead to trade bans, fines and potential criminal liability.
Compliance costs and traceability requirements for soy, palm oil and cattle-linked products entering the EU could tighten supply of verified-compliant volumes and add premiums. The effect on prices is still uncertain until enforcement begins.
