PIRSA cut its South Australian winter crop estimate to 7.59 million tonnes from 8.18 million, with new-crop wheat at 4.11 million tonnes and barley at 1.86 million tonnes. The estimate is based on conditions as of July 10 and does not include rain received later in July, and low soil moisture and late sowing are noted as risks.
A smaller South Australian wheat and barley crop reduces Australian export and feed grain supply, which supports local and export prices.
