The EU published its EUDR guidance document earlier in August, stating that companies must prove products are produced legally, not just deforestation-free. The regulation covers cattle, palm oil, soy, cocoa, coffee, rubber and wood, and applies to large companies in a few months.
Stricter legality proof requirements raise compliance costs for soy and palm oil supplied to Europe, which can narrow the spread for those origins against non-EU buyers.
