The Korean won weakened past 1,410 per dollar for the first time since May, driven by a stronger US dollar after firm US growth data and by concern over Washington's demand for an upfront $350 billion investment. Seoul also announced plans for 24-hour FX trading.
A weaker won raises the cost of dollar-priced feed and ingredient imports for Korean buyers, and the dollar strength adds pressure on dollar-denominated commodity prices.
