A federal government shutdown suspended USDA's WASDE and weekly export sales reports during the week. The FAO raised its world grain production forecast to a record 2.97 billion tons, with higher wheat output in Canada and Russia and higher maize in the US and China.
Ukraine also expanded its winter wheat sowing projection by 8%.
Higher global output and a data blackout that removes official benchmarks point to ample wheat and corn supply, with added volatility once USDA data resumes.
