CoBank economist Jacqui Fatka says tariffs under IEEPA average over 12% across key US agricultural inputs, including fertilizer, pesticides and machinery, with effective rates up to 44% on Indian imports. Higher input costs are squeezing farmers, who are receiving government assistance payments.
Higher tariffs on fertilizer and other inputs raise farm production costs and can support feed grain prices over time by tightening margins and planting incentives.
