Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the US is not yet ready to lift its ban on Mexican cattle imports over New World screwworm, which has been spreading north through Mexico. She said she is not yet comfortable reopening the border.
With the border closed, feeder cattle supply stays tight, which supports cattle prices. Any reopening would add supply and pressure prices lower.
