Commentary on the amended EUDR says the legislative fix goes beyond a simple delay by relieving downstream operators and traders from repeating due diligence. Small and micro primary producers in low-risk countries also get a simplified statement without geolocating their holdings.
Removing repeated due diligence for downstream traders lowers handling costs along the EU supply chain for soy meal, palm oil and other regulated commodities, which supports trade flows.
