The New World screwworm outbreak in Mexico has led to an almost year-long blockade on imported Mexican cattle. The halt has disrupted domestic feedlots and long-standing cross-border business relationships.
With Mexican feeder cattle excluded, US feeder supplies stay tight, which supports cattle prices and keeps feedlot input demand under pressure.
