USDA's January Cattle on Feed report showed on-feed inventory at 11.5 million head on January 1, down 3% year over year and above trade expectations. December placements were 1.55 million head and marketings were 1.77 million head, both above trade estimates.
Tight feeder supplies and a shrinking on-feed inventory support cattle prices and reduce demand for feed grains from feedlots over the coming months.
