Malaysian palm oil rose 3.7% on March 6 to close at MR 4,365 per tonne as crude oil jumped after the Middle East war began. The palm-gasoil (PO-GO) spread narrowed nearly 44% from February 27 to its tightest level in almost two years.
A narrower PO-GO spread improves biodiesel margins and encourages Indonesian production ramp-ups, lifting palm demand and prices. Higher costs and uncertainty could weigh on some biofuel makers.
