USDA projects India could export at least 2 million tonnes of wheat in 2026/27, up from 0.25 million previously, after the government lifted its 2023 export ban. USDA also cut global 2026/27 wheat production to 819.1 million tonnes, with large reductions for the US, EU, Argentina, Australia and Canada.
Lower production among major exporters tightens global wheat supply and supports prices, partly offset by a larger Indian export contribution. The net price implication is supportive for wheat.
