AFBF economist Cameron Castillo said $9.6 billion of the $11 billion allocated under the Farmer Bridge Assistance Program has been paid, mostly to Iowa, Texas and Illinois. He said specialty crop payments remain pending and that rice losses remain high despite aid.
Aid payments cushion farm incomes but do not change planting or marketing volumes, so price impact is minimal.
