The rupee ended July 31 at 95.38 per dollar, its strongest weekly gain since March, helped by persistent RBI intervention and a weaker dollar. The currency still fell about 0.7% over the month as Brent and WTI rose on renewed Middle East hostilities.
The rupee's strength reduces import costs for dollar-denominated feed ingredients, while the month's oil rally keeps energy and freight costs elevated for Indian buyers.
