India's government has allowed exports of 5 million tonnes of wheat after a four-year ban. Global wheat prices have rallied, and Indian wheat is now priced competitively for export, including to Bangladesh.
India returning to the export market adds meaningful supply from a large state reserve, which could cap some of the global wheat rally. Buyers should watch for offsetting upward pressure on feed wheat prices in the short term.
